Splat has traveled to the far reaches of the world, has experienced some of the most beautiful homes in the area and has fun at many events. His most rewarding adventure is helping people learn about themselves. Splat says to know yourself is to know your path to make the world a better place.
Now, Splat's dramatic journey from a little drop of paint to ambitions of polishing stars can be used as an exciting educational and motivational tool. The story has many tracks that can fill hundreds of hours of study and activities. For additional study, take our Workshop scheduled for Spring 2008 in Tulsa, Ok.
Please send me more information on the Splat Workshop when it becomes available.
Please use this curriculum outline for your group and we will share it on-line so others may benefit also.
Step 1: Read the story of Splat's Journey
Students read the story of Splat and his journey to becoming a star, learning life lessons and art lessons while they're at it.
Step 2: In the story, learn the mind/hand connection and practice using by doodling.
Doodling and sketching are used to illustrate parts of their world that they relate with Splat's story.
Step 3: Draw A Picture Of What It Means
Students learn to identify their personal passion for art and creativity.
Step 4: Talk About Your Pictures
The group comes together to explain and discuss their pictures. Everyone is encouraged to put in constructive suggestions of what could be used to make the story easier to understand in the picture.
Step 5: Clarify
Students take the suggestions and new ideas they got from the discussion session and apply them to a new version of their picture.
Step 6: Study Stained Glass
Students learn about the art of stained glass and stained glass design. The concept of bold lines and solid colors works well at making simplistic art look spectacular.
Step 7: Refine
Students make a final version of their picture with the goal of making a stained glass design.
Step 8: Submit To Contest
Everyone celebrates their achievement and take a big confident step forward by submitting their pictures to a national art contest. The simple accomplishment of being a contestant is further than most will ever go and will be a foundation of courage for the rest of their lives.
